The Super Sewer and Super Sewer XXL automatic side sewing machines produce 12.5mm and 25mm thick sewn book blocks from 100x100mm to 450x450mm at a rate of 400 books per hour.
To keep production at a maximum level, the range has been fitted with the cooling system as standard to dissipate up to 120 watts/hour.
The cooler provides a constant stream of frost-free air at -12 degrees celsius to the needles during drilling and thread sewing to prevent heat-related needle breakage and thread burning.
ODM partner Kevin Jacobson said: "We didn't offer the needle coolers as a marketing strategy; our company has a reputation to maintain and so our customers expect us to put the best components on our machines.
"Vortec is a great partner to have because they are like ODM: we are proactive rather than reactive, and if we know we can improve something, we do."
Both machines also feature Back Tack technology, exclusive to ODM, which reverse backstitches the head and foot of the book block to prevent the side sew coming apart.
US-based ODM's Super Sewer range is available from UK distributor Perfect Bindery Solutions and is suitable for on-demand printing of photobooks, yearbooks and textbooks.
