Sawgrass expands Virtuoso range

Sawgrass Technologies is previewing an upcoming expansion of its fully-integrated Virtuoso dye-sub printer range on its booth in Hall 7 (7-G21).

The US-based ink and transfer media specialist has teamed up with Mutoh on the new 630mm-wide device, based on Mutoh’s Valuejet 628, and using a new formulation of Sawgrass’ sublimation inks.

The firm launched its Virtuoso product decorating system in January through a partnership with Ricoh, offering A4 and A3-plus systems. Sawgrass consumer division president Darcy Mauro said the response had been “beyond all expectations”, leading to this subsequent expansion of the range into a larger format with Mutoh.

She described the 630mm-wide system as “perfect for larger images and high-volume production”.

Mike McEvoy, director of marketing communications, said: “It’s really good for companies that are diversifying and need a flexible and robust solution.

“This is the first fully-integrated 24-inch printing solution where the ink and hardware are a matched set.”

He cited apparel, pro-photo products, fine art and indoor signage among target applications for the solution.

Users can run CMYK plus a further four colours, such as light CMYK or special colours such as fluorescents. Sawgrass claims the eight-colour configuration delivers the largest colour gamut in its class.

It comes with the firm’s CreativeStudio cloud-based design software and stock design library.

Pricing details are to be confirmed.

The system will be officially launched later this year.
