Set for rollout in North America and Europe this autumn, the Valezus T2100 was unveiled by Japanese manufacturer Riso ahead of its debut at the Print Show in Birmingham on 17-19 September.

It is the first machine to launch under the Valezus brand, rebadging the T2 high-speed colour inkjet system, which has been on the market in limited territories since last year. The T2100 will replace the T2 and be marketed globally.

Initially available as a cutsheet system, the T2100 can process full-colour, double-sided A4 sheets at a rate of 320ppm and is primed for short-run jobs. It is set to be priced circa £150,000.

Riso UK managing director Tatsuo Murakami said: “We see a gap between fast cut-sheet and entry-level continuous-feed, in terms of the balance between productivity and hardware price. Our intention is to fill this gap and fulfil the unmet needs for production printing.

“Since our intention is to fill the gap with our unique product, we do not intend to compete with other products.

“In filling the gap, the machine’s USPs are high productivity with a small footprint, cold and completely flat output, simple use and maintenance, no special power or ventilation requirements and a roll-to-cutsheet option.”

The Valezus T2100 uses an inkjet system based on oil-based inks to save energy as they do not require ink-drying heaters like water-based inks or heat-fixing like toner-based inks.

It will be equipped with two feeder/stacker units each capable of feeding and stacking up to 4,000 sheets, with its up to 8,000 sheet capacity advancing on the T2. The machine supports PDF and Postscript formats, allowing it to fit into open system workflow environments seamlessly.

According to Murakami, the device is aimed at transactional printers and direct mailing outfits, as well as in-plant facilities for enterprises such as financial and insurance companies.

Following its debut in Birmingham, the T2100 will make an appearance at the Printing United expo in Dallas, Texas, US, from 23-25 October.
