The Modico system being demonstrated in hall 6 at Fespa (6-Q106) allows users to make a stamp in less than three minutes using laser printer output as the stamp artwork.
“There is no polymer exposure required, no chemicals, no dust, no odour and it is emission-free,” said Modico Germany managing director Joachim Kuon.
He described the resulting self-inking stamps, which go from small formats for golf balls and loyalty cards, up to a maximum of 10x7cm, as “like having a kind of screen printing machine in your pocket”. The stamps can include fine detail, such as halftones and QR codes.
“We expect our customers to make up to 80% profit on the end user price,” he stated.
The stamps are good for up to 20,000 impressions, which Kuon said was five-to-six times better than normal stamps, and they can be refilled.
Modico has also developed a “unique” ink for use on golf balls that dries instantly.
The system costs from €1,290 (£930) and is targeted at printers, copyshops and signmakers that would like to bring stamp-making in-house.
