The AccurioPress C4080 range consists of three models targeted at light production and CRDs, the 81 A4 colour ppm C4080; 71ppm C4070 and 66ppm C4065. All three offer 81ppm mono printing.
The new family replaces the AccurioPress C3080 range of machines and while they essentially offer the same headline speeds, feature a significant number of quality, productivity and flexibility boosts that means the C4080 nips at the heels of the mid-level AccurioPress C6085.
According to Edoardo Cotichini, senior manager Professional Print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, more than 7,000 of the 3080 series have been sold across Europe alone.
“Our intention is to continue with that success, because we still see that segment of the market as being very important.”
As well as new lasers in the imaging system, which increases resolution to 3,600x2,400dpi from their predecessors 1,200dpi, the C4080 range features a new paper path that helps broaden the substrate range to 62-360gsm simplex and duplex and also new screening technology for embossed papers.
The imaging system and the latest incarnation of its Screen-Enhancing Active Digital Process image processing technology, S.E.A.D. X, are inherited from the flagship AccurioPress C14000.
The changes to the paper path, which included shifting the trailing edge, also increases the maximum duplex long sheet capability to 864mm and 1,300mm for simplex, both 100mm longer than the maximum sheet lengths handled by their predecessors.
The new presses boast an optional offline plug and play media sensor that estimates paper weight and type for automatic set-ups.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe product manager Ines Wennemann said the range was conceived to deliver four pillars; automation, flexibility, reliability and streamlining, but added that if she had to sum it up in one word it would be “versatile”, thanks to the 700-plus possible configurations.
“It can literally produce anything, from envelopes to long sheets to banners, business cards and postcards, all inline.”
The broader range of finishing options is bolstered by the high-capacity stacker and Konica Minolta TU-510 four edge trimmer and creaser from the top of the range C14000.
The TU-510 itself is also set for a revamp, with module options set to be added in the new year for perforating and top creasing.
The C4080 range can be configured with EFI Fiery or Konica Minolta DFEs and also comes with the recently souped up IQ-501 Intelligent Quality Care system, and offers preventative maintenance programmes, on-the-fly colour and front-to-back registration adjustments as well as user-friendly profile creation. The registration system itself has also been fine tuned to offer "Trapezoid correction".
The machines have been available in Japan since the summer and are now available across Europe, with installs landing this week and the first UK installations understood to be imminent.
Mark Ash, director of the Professional Print and Industrial Print Division at Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK said: “The AccurioPress C4080 series is the evolution of our bestselling C3080 series, which accommodates a broad spectrum of use cases.
“We understand how users have been forced to do more with less, and skill-less features such as automatic paper type detection, image correction, print adjustment and predictive parts replacement give them time back in their day to focus on other business critical tasks.”
UK pricing was unavailable at the time of writing.
