New business development manager Garry Hume said: “The wide-format market is becoming more application driven: there's more POS and less standard exhibition roll banners and pop-ups.
“We have to move forward in that changing market and if you don't you will be left behind,” he said explaining the raft of new launches.
New products include KernowJet FloorShark, an easy-to-apply and remove floor graphic film, designed for hard floors and carpet tiles.
FloorShark needs no lamination, so improves production workflow and offers a wider colour gamut than traditional laminated floor graphics. Its 'sharkskin’ coating is tough and R10-certificated.
Hume said: “FloorShark is good for supermarket floors where pallet truck wheels can ruffle or tear the average PVC flooring.
“So we went down the polyester route, which has a shark-skin feel, is very very tough and designed for hard, smooth floors such as airport concourses.
In the wallcovering market, KernowJet Interiors is HP-Latex-certified and available in a range of surfaces, two different weights and a special twin inkjet layer for a wide colour gamut.
It can be applied and removed quickly without residue and incorporates BioPruf to resist mould and mildew, making it suitable for hospital corridors, retail spaces, concourses, gyms and hotels.
Hume said: “The key to this product is its ease of stripping down and applying. Many situations, such as wall coverings in gyms, require the job to start at midnight and end before 9am next day.
“Applying this product is super fast compared to all the fuss of steaming off wallpaper, sandpapering and other wall preparation. It can take 10 minutes instead of several hours.”
KernowJet Metalik films are for the sign and print industry. Metalik Cut & Print is for double-sided lettering on windows and signage with a removable adhesive that can be wet or dry applied.
Metalik Inkjet is for permanent application to POS boards and smooth surfaces and both products are printable with solvent, latex and UV inks in widths up to 1,524mm in silver, gold and rose gold.
KernowJet Supreme, the HP-Latex-certified blend good performance and prices for the roller banner and pop-up markets, according to the company.
“The Metalik films are very very easy to apply,” said Hume. “They are almost like 'permanent removable' products for lettering on solicitors' widows, for example.
“While it's up it will stay up, but when you want to take it down it will peel off cleanly and without leaving any residues. We also do a truly permanent version for POS that never come off.”
On pricing he said: “Costs will be pretty much similar or better than the price of traditional graphic laminates, but with the FloorSharK you are taking out a process – lamination.”
