The wide-format RIP developer has added a Process Control Compliance feature for Fogra Process Standard Digital (PSD) and Process Standard Offset (PSO). Together with Caldera's EasyMedia colour profiling system, this allow the printing and measuring of standardised colour charts from within the Print or EasyMedia interfaces.

Caldera chief technical officer Frederic Soulier said: "We have put standards compliance at the heart of this release to help print businesses of all sizes take advantage of increased process control easily, improving their output quality and profitability as a result."

The module also delivers compliance reports for ISO 12647-2, -7, -8, PSD Absolute and PSD Relative to ensure conformity to Fogra standards.

"Caldera v9 was very well received across the industry and we are building on its success with this update," said chief executive Joseph Mergui. "Version 9.10 represents a great step forward for wide-format printers, particularly when it comes to standards compliance."

A further EasyMedia update allows the creation of profiles that take optical brighteners into account.

The Optical Brightness Compensation (OBC) is compatible with spectrophotometers, including the X-Rite i1 Pro2 or Caldera ColorPad. Caldera's TotalColor or Swing spectrophotometers can also be used with the addition of a physical filter.

Other updates include the integration of the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) 2.6 into all Caldera RIPs, including CopyRIP, VisualRIP, VisualRIP+ and GrandRIP+, enabling the streamlined production of complex documents, as well as offering improved compatibility with Acrobat and better font support.

Caldera v9.10 also supports Raster2PDF functionality, which is said to improve processing of raster files by using APPE 2.6 and removing the size limitations of some raster file formats, especially TIFF.

"The productivity gains possible with APPE 2.6 and the new tools and features we have added make this our most comprehensive and efficient solution to date," said Soulier.
