Q&A: Bryn Oakley

Bryn Oakley, despite being a partner at three businesses (Astra Printing Group, Vernon Computer Forms and Colour-Plus Exhibition Studios) somehow finds time to breed Dutch Warmblood horses and be chairman of the biggest show jumping club in Europe at Bicton Arena. Married with three grown-up daughters, he says he may be 60, but mentally is still 18 and acts like it.

Why did you get into printing?
I fell into it. I worked in sales and wanted to move to Devon with my new wife about 35 years ago. I applied for a job with Roneo Vickers Business Forms selling computer stationery, and got it

What would be your dream job?
A detective

Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Jeremy Clarkson as we share the same style of humour and he would understand me

What is your dream bit of kit?
A money tree

Who or what do you hate the most?
Fraudsters and people who do not respect trust

‘Hands up - and gimme the money!'

What is the strangest job you've ever done?
Bar-bending reinforcing steel bars for concrete, when I was a student

What's your greatest fear?
Dying without finishing everything

What piece of kit would you like to see invented?
A cheaper digital press with a Heidelberg-style paper registration system (in metal)

What was the best business deal that you've pulled off?
That would be telling, but there have been a few

As a good bloke
