The company has expanded into a new factory, which is also Switzerland's first Minergie-P certified industrial building.
The certification is a label of low-energy consumption buildings with Zünd claiming its facility expansion uses five times less energy than newly-constructed conventional buildings and produces five times less CO2.
Zund said: "These days we are virtually surrounded by products that come off our cutters—products that at some stage have been cut, routed, or scored with Zünd equipment." The flatbed cutter manufacturer was founded by Karl Zünd in 1984 and now employs 125 staff.
Zünd used the opportunity to announce that he will pass day-to-day operations to his sons but will actively remain as part of the company's management.
