X-Rite has launched the DTP 34, a low-cost densitometer for calibrating digital copiers and printers.
"It supersedes the 2,300 DTP32," said X-Rite northern European general manager Geoff Balfour. "As RIP prices come down weve redesigned it to cost around 1,200."
It is aimed at users of Xerox and Canon digital devices.
Balfour also believes it has a market for calibrating wide-format ink-jet printers.
X-Rite has seen sales in Northern Europe rise 18% in the first six months of the year on the back of sales of its Auto-Tracking Spectrophotometer and the rise in colour management.
Last month X-Rite appointed Michael Ferrara as chief operating officer to oversee the day-to-day running of the firm, leaving president and chief operating officer Rich Cook to focus on strategic development and acquisitions.
