It converts and calculates bitmap, or CIP3, data from ripped files into press specifications. The data is then stored on smart media ready to be downloaded directly onto the press.  

IntelliPress is available from 4,000 and the firm claims that the return on investment for commercial printers can be as little as three months. "If people manually pre-set inks, then the investment in this product is nothing," says X-rite IntelliPass product manager Iain Pike. 

IntelliPress is compatible with most presses, dating back to the 1980s, including Heidelberg, MAN Roland, Komori, Mitsubishi and KBA, as well as those that use third-party press consoles.
