The upgrade includes several new features and modules that X-Rite said would help speed up the ink formulation workflow and enable consistent results on a broad variety of substrates and ink film thicknesses, including transparent films and metalised substrates.
At the core of the software is a math engine that provides better prediction of ink interactivity with substrates, enabling InkFormulation 6 to calculate the optimal and most cost-effective recipe based on printing process, ink, illumination, pigment pricing and number of components and materials to be used.
Also included in version 6 is an improved Basic Material module, a new Film Thickness Calibration module and support for the X-Rite Graphic Arts Standard (XRGA).
