A working group is to be set up to tackle the shortfall of adequate training within the industry.
Comprising government officials, members of the BPIF, the GPMU, the Print and Graphic Communications National Training Organisation (PGCNTO) and employers, it is hoped the group will meet every four to six weeks.
The move was announced following a meeting between Adult Skills minister John Healy and representatives of the PGCNTO, the BPIF and the GPMU last week.
PGCNTO chief executive Richard Beamish said government and employer responsibility for training would be a key topic. He hoped the group would make "clear recommendations" within six months.
