The firm's Perfecta Flowline equipment, supplied by Graphic Arts Equipment, consists of a jogger, mobile stack lift, air-bed tables, transfer tables and an unloading system.
"I've been a guillotine operator for 37 years and this is a completely different experience," said Martin Nairn. "There's now very little bending or lifting to do, but also the blade is now always cutting and we're not spending so much time manually dressing up work."
The ancillary kit spend for the firm's Perfecta 115 guillotine follows on from its recent pre-press investment on upgrading its workflow and proofing facilities.
"We are close to creating a JDF workflow in the pre-press and press departments, though this currently can't be extended into finishing," said commercial director Andrew Hall. "Fortunately we can make a big difference to our bindery in a more physical way."
