The Mamo range consists of the tabletop Plasti 330 and Plasti 635, which is also available with an optional floor stand, and the floor standing Plasti 1100. All three machines can be used with hot and cold films for single- or double-sided lamination.
Watkiss communications director Jo Watkiss said: "In the past we've sold higher volume industrial laminators but we've found that these fit better with our customer base. We know from Ipex that there is big demand for lower-end laminators."
Pricing for the Plasti 330 and Plasti 1100 is around £1,600 and £4,955 respectively, while the Plasti 635 costs £2,110 for the tabletop model or £2,380 with the optional floor stand.
Maximum sheet size and laminating width respectively for the three machines is: 350mm and 330mm for the Plasti 330; 650mm and 635mm for the Plasti 635; and 1,100mm and 1,050mm for the Plasti 1100.
The other main differentiator is that the Plasti 1100 can take boards up to 8mm thick compared with 5mm on the smaller machines. "That makes quite a difference when it comes to mounting panels and boards for things like POS," said Watkiss.
All three machines have the same feature set, including: an adjustable anti-curling device; independent heating control for the lower roll for single-sided lamination; and a combination of microprocessor-controlled heated front rollers with cold exit rollers for improved quality.
