The free one-day event, which was due to take place at the Rose Bowl, Leeds on 7 April, has now been moved to 8 September.
In a statement, organisers said: “It is with regret that we need to announce the postponement of the Visual Media Conference 2020.
“We have taken this precautionary measure after consulting with speakers, sponsors and attendees, and conducting a review of the developing situation of coronavirus in the UK and Europe, including the tightening of global and UK travel restrictions across many regions.
“The well-being of our attendees, speakers, colleagues, sponsors and local partners is our absolute priority.
“VMC would like to offer thanks to everyone who had planned to join us, and look forward to seeing you in September.”
The seventh running of the event, which is organised by BPIF specialist interest group Creative Digital Industries (CDI) and targeted at the creative, digital, print and packaging industries, was set to examine the use of fake news and abuse of data as part of marketing and communication strategies.
