Vinayaga Screens in Madurai invests in new building and bolsters print base
Vinayaga Screens has invested in a 6,000 sqft new purpose-built plant. The three-storey building will house the Shinohara 26 four-colour press and a four-colour Mitsubishi along with a fleet of finishing kit which includes an Itoh cutting machine and a Shoei folding machine.
The new unit which will function alongside an existing unit, produces 12 magazines and tabloids every month along with handbills, danglers and brochures. The company is also eyeing production of cartons and labels.
Rm Lakshminarayanan, the owner said: "Our 23-year old firm can compete on price, speed and quality. But the high-level of automation means, we can handle shorter runs economically."
His son, Ramanathan who is a gold medallist at the Pune-based PVG Institute added: "Madurai is witnessing a boom in medicare, education and IT. It's a great opportunity for us to double our turnover."
The 28-staff unit which was founded in 1977 under humble circumstances, specialises in production of invitation cards for weddings and political functions.
