Both Tim Claypole, of the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating, and former BPC and Paper Focus publisher Peter Ingram received MBEs for services to graphic arts research and papermaking respectively.
Claypole said that the award was a "great honour", adding that it was a team effort and praised the efforts of WCPC co-founder David Gethin, as well as the team at the organisation, whom he said were instrumental in the award.
The Swansea-based print research facility is currently pioneering nano-printing, as well as printing plastic electronics and other more traditional applications, such as devising methods of printing onto non-conventional materials for the packaging and point-of-sale industry.
Ingram's work has included the refurbishment of two disused paper mills, converting them into unique educational centres.
