Trade minister to discuss CSR at print event

Industry minister Margaret Hodge is to address the print sector on corporate social responsibility (CSR) at a conference in May.

Hodge (pictured), who is minister of state for industry and the regions at the Department of Trade and Industry, will give her speech at a seminar organised by Solihull-based print management firm Etrinsic.

The Labour MP for Barking will explain government policy on CSR from a UK and global perspective at the 21 May event.

Keith Walton, Etrinsic chief executive, said: “With print being the UK’s sixth-largest industry, the aim of the seminar is to increase awareness of CSR issues and the contribution our industry can make in the environmental arena.”

Other speakers at the event, to be held at the Institute of Directors, will include environmental consultant Clare Taylor, Jonathan Tame of the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), a representative of paper merchant Robert Horne and Matt Bird, Etrinsic’s managing director.

Subjects under discussion will be paper specification and recycling, waste management, sustainability, forest certification schemes and green print technology.
