Etrinsic managing director Matt Bird told printweek.com: “As environmental concerns become more and more embedded in the business ethic, clients are driving forward the environmental question.
“The print industry needs to take more of a lead. Green credentials are vital for any firm that expects to succeed in the future, whether it be with large corporates or SMEs.”
The Solihull-based company said it looked at all areas of operations to find ways of reducing its environmental impact, including its use of sub-contractors.
It has put in place an environmental management system, increasing paper recycling by 300% at its head office and pruning back waste disposal to landfill by half.
“Achievements like this are just the start of the process,” said environmental officer Lucy Klinkenberg. “Continual improvement is fundamental to the environmental management process. Environmentally friendly production techniques are just one of the areas we will be addressing in detail over the coming months.”
The company will also hold a seminar on 21 May in London to increase awareness of corporate social responsibility issues and how the print industry can help.
Minister of State at the Department of Trade and Industry Margaret Hodge will be a keynote speaker at the event.
Etrinsic’s clients include National Express, EDF Energy, Topps Tiles and Sainsbury’s.
