Torraspapel mills handed EMAS accreditiation

Paper producer and merchant Torraspapel has been awarded Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) environmental certification for its coated paper and pulp mills.

EMAS is a voluntary system designed to create continuous improvements in the environmental performance of public and private organisations, and is based on the ISO 14001 environmental standard.

The certification is due to be extended to its speciality paper and self-adhesives factories before the end of this year.

Torraspapel has also added PEFC accreditation to the whole of its sales network, including all of its merchants and subsidiaries.

During 2008, it plans to certify the chain of custody of its specialty paper and self-adhesive paper factories.

Torraspapel is a European producer of coated fine paper, specialty paper and self-adhesives for labels, which are sold across Europe including the UK. It is also a paper merchant in Southern Europe.
