"I’ve had experience of digital presses before, we could have just gone for a white box that prints SRA3 sheets but we wanted to differentiate ourselves," said The Langham Press co-owner David Arnold. "We’re focusing on the capability of the Meteor to handle larger format sheets, especially 6pp property brochures. It’s also enabled us to produce landscape format books, including a short run of A3 landscape scrapbooks."
The firm, which is based in Foxton near Cambridge, has also found that the Meteor has enabled it to produce some jobs better than its Komori B2 litho press.
"We do book covers for one client on a metallic stock, on the Meteor the results dry instantly, whereas on the Komori they’d take hours and hours to dry."
The Meteor, which was supplied by MGI Technology dealer Print and Reprographic Services, was part of a £180,000 investment in digital kit, which also included a Morgana DigiCreaser and single clamp PUR binder.
The Langham Press was founded last July by Arnold, who was previously at Bluepoint.
