According to managing director Stuart Cope, the addition, which gives the company a three-knife trimmer solution, can save the company 100 man hours on some jobs.
Oxfordshire-based The Flying Press installed the System 5000 in 2008, because previously it had to pre-guillotine booklets before collating them.
The new unit, which runs at 4,500 A5 books an hour, or 9,000 an hour when fitted with an optional gutter cut knife, trims the head and foot of completed booklets and brochures inline.
Cope said: "Our business has a customer-first ethos, coupled with a passionate drive for continual improved efficiency. With only six employees, our trust is on our plant list to deliver and cater for our customers’ demand. The addition of the extra two knives on the bookletmaker just seemed natural to us.
"We have a magazine job three times a year, which means we are literally flat out for two weeks non stop. With the new three knife trim bookletmaking line, we have saved 30 hours every time we run the job. That is nearly 100 hours saved, on one job, per year."
Cope add that The Flying Press was also looking to expand via acquisition in the near future.
