Tharstern is demonstrating a direct machine interface between its SQL MIS and Komoris K-station control software at Drupa.
The Lancashire-based firm developed the link, which is set to be installed at a North London printer, in one month prior to the show. Tharstern is also demonstrating an interface with MAN Rolands Job Pilot software. This service will go live at Lynx Offset on 1 June.
Tharstern managing director Keith McMurtie said he was in discussions with other manufacturers and their customers, and that he was open to anybody. The interface will be priced at around 5,000, and it can be set up according to the end users requirements for any number of presses.
Tharstern is also talking to several paper suppliers, including Robert Horne and Wiggins Teape, about integrating their e-commerce sites with printers host systems. McMurtie said: We have done the necessary development work. We are waiting for them. If there are any customers who are interested in putting it in place, its ready now.
McMurtie said the system would allow printers to make stock enquiries and check prices without leaving Tharsterns framework.
Tharstern has been in talks with a number of agents at Drupa as it bids to increase its global presence. We may have cracked India and Australia, said McMurtie. There has been a lot of interest from all over Europe, South America and Mexico.
