Tewkesbury Printing opens up tender opportunities with ISO 14001

Tewkesbury Printing has opened up new markets after securing ISO 14001 in just four months, several weeks after it landed both FSC and PEFC badges.

Tewkesbury Printing estimator and environment coordinator Nicky Wilson told printweek.com the reason the ISO was secured in such a short period was that most practices were already in place.

She added that: "We use a waste compactor, actively recycle paper and use correct ink disposal methods. The next step is to ensure that our presses run alcohol-free."

The 30-staff company has also recently begun printing on FSC-certified stock that includes Greencoat Velvet and coated Regency Satin paper.

Wilson said the accreditations had broadened the range of work the company could tackle, as "an increasing number of tenders now require the printer to be FSC-certified and ISO 14001-accredited".

Tewkesbury Printing office manager Tony Bray added: "People are certainly becoming more interested in the environment. There's a growing awareness from clients, both small and large."

The 22-year-old Heidelberg house runs two B2 CD presses, a five-colour and a four-colour perfector.
