Trident guns for ISO 14001 with Pro-T move

Trident Printing has made a push for ISO 14001 after securing FSC and PEFC certification at the end of last year.

The Woolwich-based B2 litho operation, which expects to seal the first stage of accreditation next month, said using Fuji's Brillia HD Pro-T processless plates complemented its green practices.

The 28-staff firm images the plates on its Screen Platerite 4300 to run on its two five-colour presses: a Ryobi 750 and a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74.

Trident production director Mark Tackling said the plates offered "an exceptionally quick makeready time" and were highly productive.

Trident director Tony Fairbairn told printweek.com that using the Fuji plates represented "another step in making the firm as environmentally friendly as possible, as it removes the need for chemicals".

Fairbairn said the company also recycled its plates and ensures waste separation, in addition to plans to install sensors in rooms so that lighting is only used when needed.

"We're fitting the environment into our daily processes. It gives people the choice and shows you have a conscience," he added.
