The Leeds-based printer spent around £1.1m on the press, which is currently being installed at its premises and will be up and running at the start of August.
“It’s a brand new investment for us. We’ve always pushed digital and been at the forefront of digital printing so it was a natural progression for us to invest more in that side of the business,” said sales director Simon Bucktrout.
“I think it will increase our offering and our turnover and I’m sure it will increase our bottom line as well as digital work tends to be very profitable.”
The 11-tonne, seven-colour press has a maximum print width of 750mm and uses HP’s ElectroInk. It has a print speed of 3,450sph, which is equivalent to 230 A4 ppm.
"We chose a seven-colour press because that's the maximum number of colours that are available and we didn't want to limit ourselves with a lower number. We'll predominantly use the press for books, brochures, packaging, POS and posters," said Bucktrout.
Team Impression also runs HP Indigo 7000, 5500 and 5000 six-colour digital presses and three Komori Lithrone six-colour litho presses. It has also invested in a Duplo PUR perfect binder to complement the HP Indigo 10000 purchase.
“We did tentatively look at Xerox as well but I think we were always going to get another Indigo because we know the machines and they have a very high quality,” said Bucktrout.
The firm, which has 85 staff and a turnover of £8m, serves customers including national design agencies, print management companies and end-users in fashion and art industries.
