The press, which cost just over £1m, was installed at the firm’s 11,100sqm production facility last month and joins three HP Indigo 7600s and the company’s first beta Indigo 10000 press, which was installed in 2012.
The business plans to upgrade its first 10000 over the next few months to match the specifications of the new machine.
“The addition of HP Indigo technology at Pureprint has transformed our business. We now offer an ever-increasing range of print-on-demand and short- to medium-run products including targeted direct mail, photobooks, calendars, published books, financial reports, packaging and POS materials,” said chief executive Mark Handford.
“The combination of the best digital printing technology with our data, workflow and marketing platforms has offered genuine innovation to our clients and assisted in us winning £2m of new contracts in the past three months.”
Director Richard Owers added: “The Indigo technology fits in so well with our quality work mix and the new press will provide us with additional capacity and back-up to the first press, which is always important to have.”
Pureprint employs 275 people and has a turnover of over £38m. Its turnover has increased by 20% each year for the past five years and the firm’s HP Indigo digital printing department has produced 20% of its turnover in the past 12 months.
In February the firm, which serves clients in the corporate, retail, creative and fine art industries, boosted its litho operation after it installed its fifth Heidelberg XL 105 press. This round of investment brings the company’s capital expenditure on new technology to £15m over the past five years.
