TCS has both the 73H and Grafcut 52H fully hydraulic guillotines in stock now and has sold one already, as customers measure them up against the secondhand brands sold by the company including Challenge Titan, EBA and Ideal.

The Polish-manufactured machines are very good value, according to TCS managing director Chris Cooper, who said there is a lot of demand for small footprint machines from digital printers.

“It’s about affordability. We have not seen anything on the market that’s price competitive against these two machines,” he said.

Cooper said Grafcut’s guillotines were compact, automated and durable with a solidly built and robust design.

“We had our engineers all over them and we’re very pleased with the build quality and what they do. They have all the features of the Ideal and the EBA guillotines, which we only sell secondhand, but they are new and only cost around £6,000 .”

He said one feature not usually expected on machines of this cost is the light barrier, infra-red cutting light beam, which improves safety and saves time. The cutters also have full programmability via a touchscreen.

“We’re expecting to do quite well with them,” Cooper added. “At that sort of price, it’s going to be a quick, easy decision.”

The Grafcut 73H features a maximum cutting format of 730x730mm and a fully hydraulic system with adjustable pressure, via a crank on the operator panel. TCS said it has a high cutting accuracy down to 0.1mm of a maximum paper stack of up to 100mm.

It can make a smallest cut of 30mm, a powerful hydraulic knife and clamp drive, a foot-pedal for material pre-clamping, optional air tables and a full colour touch screen.

The smaller Grafcut 52H has most of the same features and in a maximum 520x520mm cutting format size.

Prices for the new cutters start at £6,850.
