The Preston-based printer, which was founded in 1858, uses around 800 plates a month to feed its fleet of Heidelberg presses, which include a Speedmaster SM74-2, a Printmaster PM74-2, a GTO-2 and a QM 46-2.
Managing director Dominic Swarbrick said: "I put all capital expenditure on hold when the recession hit until we could see a bit of daylight, but I think we're through the worst of it now, although I wouldn't say it's over yet."

T Snape & Co has upgraded its Prosetter visible light platesetter to a Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 and signed a three-year deal with the German manufacturer worth 70,000 for its Saphira chemistry-free plates.
