"We are looking into the market with a view to increasing our sales and strengthening our position," said Heradstveit.
The firm is conscious of the amount of consolidation taking place in the European labelling sector and is looking at partnerships.
Forster, who was managing director of Skanem Newcastle, will be in charge of looking for acquisitions in Europe. The move is at the request of Skanem owner and group president, Ole Rugland. Forster's role will be taken over by group operations director Alf Moller.
Skanem Industries acquired SE Labels in November 2001, aligning it with its packaging business.
At the time of the acquisition, Forster was managing director of SE Labels.
Skanem has production plants in five countries, including the UK. Its sales for 2003 were 115m (E171m).
