Starting at the Northampton-based company on 4 January, Talbot told Printweek he was “extremely excited” about his new position.
“My honest feeling is that the industry is on the edge of a sea change,” he said.
“One of the things that I’ve realised since joining NDI is what we can buy in terms of products and do with those products at drastically reduced prices to what the bigger boys are selling the marketplace for the same kind of quality.”
Talbot has worked in the industry for 33 years, most recently as indirect channel manager at Fujifilm, serving the UK and Ireland. He has also previously held roles at Linotype, Scitex Europe and NCS Group and brings with him a strong background in sales of litho, wide-format inkjet and workflow systems.
NDI managing director Phil Dowson said: “We have had steady revenue growth over the last few years and are now looking to push on, not only with additional personnel but also with a raft of new and exclusive Signracer products during quarter one of 2020.
“We intend to add more people to the team during March and April of 2020, so watch this space.”
NDI has held sole UK distribution rights for the Signracer kit range for the past nine months, during which time it has installed seven machines.
It recently supplied two Signracer 1610 HD Gen 5 UV printers to Ashton-under-Lyne-based Mockridge Labels and Nameplates.
Mockridge studio manager Carl Ward said: “We are extremely happy with our decision to go with NDI and the Signracer kit.
“We print on multiple substrates; Foamex, aluminum, wood and myriad plastics. Whilst the format in terms of size for our products is also incredibly varied, we do a serious amount of small, fine detailed imagery.
“In choosing new devices, our main criteria aside from high quality, ink adhesion and speed was the ability to print very small text and design elements without excessive laydown of ink.
“The flatbed devices with the ability to produce a 2.5 picolitre dot, hand in hand with the Signracer Premiumflex HD UV ink, has been a revelation, and that is no exaggeration. We are also amazed at how little ink the units use.”
The Signracer 1610 HD Gen 5 is available in two to eight-colour versions that include light cyan and light magenta, white and a clear varnish.
