Several parties interested in Inveresk, administrator confirms

Inveresk's joint administrator Ernst & Young has confirmed that "a number of parties" have expressed an interest in the company which is currently in receivership.

A spokeswoman said it has received notes of interest in acquiring the business as a going concern or certain of the assets of the business.

She said: "A closing date for offers from these interested parties was set on 22 October 2010 and a number of offers were received.

"The joint receivers are now currently in negotiations with a potential purchaser seeking to acquire the business as a going concern."

Reports have said that the mill's ownership may be transfer to its general manager Henrik Bernander, although Ernst & Young declined to comment on whether this was the case.

Ernst & Young's Andrew Davison, Colin Dempster and Chris Marsden were appointed joint receivers to the speciality paper manufacturer on 8 October.

It is understood that none of the mill's 35 staff have been made redundant at this stage.

Inveresk has a mill in Somerset, which produces speciality products for niche markets. It also has a registered office in Stirling and a site in Singapore
