Sherman had a long career in the industry. He worked for processor specialist IGP in the 1980s before moving to HighWater Designs, where he was European sales manager.
In 1999 he joined Screen. After almost a decade based in the UK he then moved to Dubai as area director for the manufacturer’s Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa regional business.
In a statement, Screen said it wanted to celebrate his life and service: “Mark will be greatly missed. He was a tireless ambassador for Screen’s technology during an important time of innovative digital transition and made many friends not only amongst his colleagues but across the industry as a whole.”
Bui Burke, senior vice president of sales at Screen Europe, commented: “Mark was a high-profile figure at all the big events like Ipex and Drupa, and he was highly regarded by all his international distributors.
“He was a long-term colleague and a great friend – Screen is like a family and we’ve all worked together for a long time. This is such sad news and our thoughts are with his family.”
Posting on LinkedIn, Mohammad Alhashimi, managing director of the Ali Alhashemi Company in the UAE, said: “We will not forget you Mark Sherman because you are in our hearts and in our memories. May his soul rest in peace.”
Pierre Driver of Kemtek Imaging Systems in Cape Town, added: “A great soul. My dear friend RIP. The one and only Shermanator.”
In 2018 Sherman relocated to Nova Scotia and semi-retired. He died on 7 February.
Screen said it would pass on any messages and condolences to Sherman’s family, which can be sent via Dale Pardy.
