Former colleagues are mourning long-standing Océ executive Bron Curley, who has died aged 73.

Curley passed away earlier this month following a long illness. His funeral was held last weekend.

He had enjoyed a long industry career and was managing director at Xerox Egypt prior to joining Océ in 2002 as business unit director.

In his 11 years at the Dutch printer maker he subsequently became managing director of Océ Imagistics and then MD of its UK business. The period included Canon’s takeover of Océ which began in late 2009, with Canon then taking a majority stake in the business in spring 2010.

Associates described Curley as a larger-than-life character, who was widely respected by his work colleagues.

Duncan Smith, country director for production printing products at Canon UK, paid tribute.

He said: “As somebody who worked closely with Bron during his time with Océ, I am very saddened to hear this news and send our deepest condolences to his family.

“Bron was a people-focused, larger-than-life character with a great personality.  He made a significant contribution to the business and played an instrumental role in leading Océ prior to the acquisition by Canon.”

After leaving Océ in 2013, Curley set up his own consultancy specialising in pension fund administration and business performance optimisation.

He is survived by his wife Jennie and daughter Emma.

Donations in Curley’s memory can be made to the PSP Association, which supports people and families affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD).
