The company printed 5,000 labels on a Nilpeter FA4 combination flexo press two months ago for the launch of the 98.4% organic anti-ageing face oil.
The brand was unveiled this June by the TV personality and entrepreneur Saira Khan and forms part of the brand’s Fruits of Kashmir range.
Royston Labels looked to produce a stylish premium label sporting two filigree flowers one acid green, one white combined with silver foiling.
The labelmaker trialled various substrates and print options, before opting for a synthetic substrate to promote a frosted white appearance with raised dense black print on opaque postal green.
Royston also used a gloss laminate to cover due to the high level of resistance required for an oil based product.
Technical manager Phil Bradnam said: “The most challenging aspect was having to laminate the entire product to protect it from the oil.
“The cardboard carton was printed overseas in brilliant white and we used a pastel colour and a translucent label on a yellow fill, which was tricky to get the colour matching right.”
He added: “Printing on a transparent substrate threw up the difficulty of the product colour showing through the label.
“Our in-house ink technical department worked hard on this before going to press, saving the client and us valuable time on the day of production."
Saira Skin’s creative director Sue Bird said: “The team at Royston Labels were determined to achieve the best possible result for us and they did precisely that.”
Royston Labels has been in the packaging industry for over 30 years and clients come from personal care, drinks and pharmaceutical industries.
The self-adhesive label specialist invested more than £1m in the 12-colour Nilpeter FA4 combination press in eight years ago order to increase capacity.
