Roland unveils LEC-300 with added-value aim

Roland DG has handed a UK premiere to its latest wide-format machine, the LEC-300, at Total Print! Expo.

The product was previewed by a select group of customers last week and the company said two orders have already been taken.

Head of project management, Brett Newman, was tight-lipped on the identity of the customers, but said that the machine had made a big impact on the stand on the first day at TPE.

"We had an amazing response within the first hour and I am confident we will take orders at the show," he said.

According to Roland, the 30in machine is the world's first UV roll-to-roll product with a cutter. It allows users to print CMYK and to add gloss and embossing.

The LEC-300 is being demonstrated live at TPE and targets markets including proofing, packaging, signage and industrial screen print.

"With the ability to provide a range of finishes and cutting options, the machine can add value at a time when prices are depressed in
the print market," added Newman.

The four-colour press prints at up to 21.4m2 an hour.
