Roland DG eyes market growth with new sales director appointment

Roland DG has put in place "the final piece of its UK jigsaw" following the appointment of Martin Phillips in the newly created position of director of sales.

Phillips, previously European sales and marketing director supplies at Samsung Electronics, is charged with developing reseller partnerships for the wide-format kit manufacturer.

Jerry Davies, managing director of Roland DG, said: "As the company continues to broaden its portfolio, we must continue to match it with appointments such as Martin."

He added: "Our principal route to market is via our network of authorised dealers, which means that much of Martin's role will be spent developing and adding value to existing channel partnerships, as well as identifying and converting new market opportunities."

Roland DG will give UK debuts to its VersaUV LEC-300 printer and cutter as well as its 64" VersaArt RS-640 printer at Total Print! Expo next month.

Davies added that the new UV print and cut machine VersaUV LEC-300, which is claimed to be the world's first, represents an opportunity for the company to move into the label and packaging market.

Newly appointed Phillips said he believed in "developing mutually beneficial, long-term channel partnerships with companies who understand the importance that end user satisfaction has on Roland DG maintaining its position".
