The Poole-based outfit picked up the machine in late September and it was installed by Woking-based supplier Colyer Repropoint. Listed at £13,300, the initial machine installed had a fault but RGL managing director Robert Russell said it was replaced with a new machine within two working days. It joins an HP Latex L26500 and replaces two of its previous iteration, the Z6100.
“I’ve used HP for 20 years and RGL has always used HP,” said Russell.
“This is the sixth machine we’ve purchased from HP so HP is pretty much our large-format workhorse.
"It’s an industry standard machine and it does everything you want it to do for indoor graphics, so that’s the reason behind it. I did look at another manufacturer but opted to stay with HP, mainly because it’s more widely used.”
Russell also praised the 2014-launched machine’s “outstanding image quality”, improved print accuracy and its Chromica Red Ink system, which is said by HP to give a wider colour gamut and “uniform gloss”.
Running at up to 140sqm/hr and intended by RGL to be used solely for indoor graphics, the machine can print at resolutions of up to 2,400x1,200dpi. Featuring an embedded i1 spectrophotometer, it prints on a variety of media types including bond and coated paper, films, photographic paper, proofing paper and fine art printing material.
The machine joins the Latex, which is mainly used for outdoor graphics, along with a range of finishing equipment. RGL Displays provides a variety of indoor and outdoor large-format and exhibition print services.
