The majority of the money has been spent on a new Heidelberg CD102-6LX six-colour press with an extended coating unit and the Preset Plus feeder and delivery, which were premiered at Drupa earlier this year.
The press is due to be installed in the next week and will replace a non coating Heidelberg five-colour. "We've got a B2 six-colour coater, so the new press will complement that very well," said group sales director John Openshaw.
The print division produces brochures, leaflets and other material for blue-chip clients.
The group has an in-house finishing capability and the increased productivity of the new press may mean future investment there.
"We've an open mind to that, as one sort of pushes the other along," said Openshaw.
The Qualitech group, which employs 100 staff, also comprises divisions for photography, catalogues, packaging, lenticular printing and asset management.
