The machines were installed at Pureprint’s premises in Uckfield, East Sussex two weeks ago and are now in full operation. The 7800s they replace had been in place since 2014.
The print and marketing company, which won Bespoke Digital Printer of the Year and Luxury Packaging Printer of the Year at the PrintWeek Awards last month, is the first in the UK to have HP’s Silver ElectroInk specified on two 7900 presses.
This upgrade is part of a £20m investment Pureprint has made over the past five years to offer the latest digital, litho and large-format printing facilities together with collateral services.
The B3 Indigo 7900 offers HP’s widest range of colour options, as well as special inks, through ElectroInk. The press uses up to seven ink stations on press, which allows the mixing of spot inks to achieve up to 97% of Pantone colours. It also features digital ink primer.
Pureprint chief executive Mark Handford said: “We finalised our upgrade with HP [on Tuesday 29 October] and by Thursday [31] had the new presses installed and in full operation, enabling us to continue meeting our high levels of service to our valued customer base at this busy time.
“The new presses allow us to offer even more innovation in digital print with the addition of the silver ink to create a wide range of metallic colours and the highest quality colour output to match our state of the art litho operation.”
Pureprint produces corporate, retail, creative, and fine art printing. It employs over 400 staff and has a turnover in excess of £65m.
