Pune's Digital Strategies gives its signage biz a Solara boost

Pune-based Digital Strategies CD Printing considers digital a pre-dominant theme and has leaped ahead with an investment in Gerber Solara Ion, UV flatbed printer which caters to high-quality printing on CDs and DVDs.

The firm has a premise with separate allocations for CD and large-format printing facilities. Interestingly, for the first time digital has introduced large-format printing with an advanced cold fire cationic ink in Western Maharashtra.

Surendra Ranade, director of the firm, said: "The machine saves us time to make a rigid sign by printing directly on the stiff materials. It is easy to start with warm up time of three minutes and a few minutes for head cleaning procedure. The best feature is it conserves energy by switching off the UV lights when there is a delay in the next print-run for ten minutes."

The Gerber Solara Ion de-skills a significant amount of process and facilitates large- format printing on a variety of materials: glass, ceramic tiles, foam sheets, aluminum composite panels and other rigid materials, best-suited for signage industry, architectural purposes, exhibition panels, point of purchase among others.  The machine is well-equipped with green printing technology enhancing the print-on-demand aspect.

"It provides a competitive edge with vibrant quality images and we deploy this technology on our focused segments like interior design and exhibition display. Recently we provided a multi-colour direct printing on glass with Solara Ion for finger touch switchboard panels which ensured customer satisfaction," stated Ranade.

According to Ranade, the firm is fitted with high-end machines and skilled staff and caters to more than 200 advertising agencies in Maharashtra and corporate houses outside the state.
