This year 1,227 honours were awarded, with a focus on exceptional achievements and people who have “given with generosity to others in need”.
Prime minister Rishi Sunak commented: “The New Year Honours List recognises the exceptional achievements of people across the country and those who have shown the highest commitment to selflessness and compassion.

Awardees with an industry connection included Yvonne Wilks-O’Grady, philanthropist and co-founder of Roots Magazine. She received an OBE for services to media, publishing and charity.
Jolly Phonics founder Christopher Jolly is now an OBE for services to education. Jolly Phonics publishes more than 100 books and handbooks for young learners.
Justin Cohen, news editor at the Jewish News, was awarded an MBE for services to Holocaust Remembrance and to the Jewish Community.
Bestselling author Jilly Cooper, already a CBE, was elevated to DBE, for services to literature and charity.
Fellow bestselling author Kate Mosse added a CBE to the OBE she was awarded a decade ago, for her services to literature, women and charity.
Felicity Dahl, founder of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, becomes a DBE for services to philanthropy, literature, and young people.
Global Media & Entertainment Group founder and president Ashley Tabor-King was elevated to CBE from OBE, for services to media and entertainment.
Nick Emery, founding partner and CEO of marketing technology group Brandtech Media, becomes a CBE for services to the media and marketing industries.
Designer Frances Sorrell, née Newell, co-founder of Newell & Sorrell and now Lady Sorrell, becomes a CBE for services to design and the creative industries for her work at the Sorrell Foundation and The Saturday Club Trust.
