The Runcorn-based firm signed the order for the machine, which was on the manufacturer’s stand, on the opening day of the show. The digital press will be delivered to the printer next week.
Xeikon sales director Greg Neesham said the firm was upgrading an existing Xeikon 4000 and wanted to be able to print on heavier stocks.
He said: “It offered faster speed and they wanted to print with special toners, which they couldn’t before.”
The five-colour duplex Xeikon 5000+ has a list price of £395,000 and has replaced the 5000 in Xeikon’s range.
It is capable of speeds up to 130ppm and can handle stocks of 40-250gsm.
