The 50-staff company's new mono engine can print up to 90ppm at a resolution of 1,200dpi. It complements a set-up that already includes a Ricoh C900 digital colour production press and Toshiba printers.
Jason Boxall, joint managing director at Pro-Active, said: "Our latest print acquisition has been made on the back of increased demand for fully personalised, highly targeted, cross media communications."
According to Boxall, the investment, which arrives next month, comes at a time where marketeers are "sharpening their pencils" with demand for segmented mailings driving up.
"As Marketers continue to explore multiple channels within the marketing mix, print volumes continue to decline but the variants within any given campaign are increasing, hence our need for expanding our short run digital capability."
The, West-Sussex-based company serves a range of clients including B2B and B2C publishers, including PrintWeek publisher Haymarket, Emap and Bauer from its 1,672m2 Chichester base.
It also specialises in data Planning, hosting, analytics, exhibiting and marketing with companies such as Oracle, Symantec, Energy Savings Trust.
