The Sussex-based company, which specialises in large-format posters and banners and prints substrates for its own frames and boxes, invested around £80,000 in the TJ8300.
The press, which was installed at the firm’s 2,322sqm premises earlier this week, is a new addition to the firm’s range of equipment.
It also also runs Fuji Uvistar UV and Vutek 5300 5m-wide printers and six 3m-wide printers; two Vutek 3300s, two Agfa Jeti 3 UVs, a Vutek 3360 EC and a Vutek QS3200r.
Operation director Spike Hallissey said: "The investment opens up the paper, poster and self-adhesive vinyl markets to us, which will allow us to look at the retail sector. We’ve already had some initial interest in the new services and we’re currently looking to fill it with work."
Hallissey joined the firm on 21 July after spending the past 21 years buying print in the out-of-home (OOH) market with firms including London Transport Advertising, TDI Advertising, Viacom Outdoor, CBS Outdoor and Exterion Media.
Prior to that he worked on the production side of a print company for 17 years.
“I’ve gone back to where I started and I’m hoping that the experience I’ve gained on both sides of the fence will help me move Prismaflex onto the next level,” said Hallissey.
“The company has a very high profile in the OOH market and I am looking forward to working with the team in order to take Prismaflex into a new era of growth and innovation.”
The UK arm of the firm has 28 staff and a turnover of £6m consisting of £3.2m print and £2.8m hardware. It serves clients in the outdoor media market including Exterion Media, Clear Channel and JCDeceaux.
