PrintCafe announced at Northprint that it would sell PrintSmith, its MIS for smaller printers in the quickprint and on-demand sectors, from its UK office.

PrintSmith is aimed at printers with a turnover in the region of 1m- 4m and the firm sees it as completing its product range, which includes Logic and ProGraph for larger printers.

"Theres been a demand for us to sell it," said PrintCafe Europe managing director Robert Berkeley. "Until now UK customers have had to buy it directly from America."

There are already 330 users in Europe including 200 Prontaprint franchises in the UK.

Future developments of the modular system that costs 1,995 include an e-commerce system designed for copy shops.

PrintIQ is a software tool to help firms calculate the return on investment of a MIS.

"Up until now its been difficult to quantify the benefits of a MIS," said Berkeley. "Print IQ makes it easier to show the benefits."
