Print veteran launches print consultancy business

Newspaper printing and publishing industry veteran Trevor Goodwin has founded a print advisory and consultancy business.

Goodwin, who has more than 35 years of experience in the trade, has launched www.goodwinprint.com to address what he claims is a skills shortage within the print industry.

According to Goodwin, a considerable number of skill sets have been lost in the industry over recent years thanks to a substantial decrease in the number of apprentices employed and an increase in redundancies and retirement.

He said: "Companies often encounter technical and operational issues which, given the time-critical nature of the business, require a speedy resolution.

"As costs rise throughout the industry and consumable suppliers are required to cut back on technical back-up resources, I am looking to fill this void."

Goodwin has previously held positions at Broughton Printers and Northampton Web, where he spent seven years as director and general manager before moving on to hold roles at the Leicester Mercury and the Guardian Print Centre.

He said: "Given my experience of greenfield site start-ups and retrofits, I am also able to offer expert advice in these areas along with troubleshooting and training."
