The company, which specialises in book printing, contract publishing, commercial printing and VDP, has also invested in a Fuego 80 Universal Folder and a Screen CTP system.
Print House director Pramod Hendre said: "We have enhanced our printing capacity to 3m web signatures a day and 2m sheets a day. Now besides our traditional print business segments, we are seriously eyeing the packaging market space."
The company's turnover is £18.3m, including an international turnover of £1.8m, which is increasing at 35% of the compounded average growth rate (CAGR).
Hendre said he expected packaging to be "the biggest mover within the organisation" and said he believes it will be able to harness "at least 40% of the company's turnover from the existing 5%".
Satish Karnik, works manager at the 450-staff group, explained why the company chose the Heidelberg press: "Heidelberg is often used in the packaging sector, because the CD 102's cylinder ratio is designed to allow thicker substrates to be processed.
"The diameter of the impression cylinder is twice that of the blanket and plate cylinders, and the transfer drums are triple the diameter. This straight paper path is ideal for the packaging sector, or simply for those printers working with heavier paper or board up to 1mm thick."
The recent Heidelberg purchase with Prinect Image Control is one in a long line of investments made by the company. In the past 15 years, Print House has added one sheetfed machine every year and one web offset machine (with cut-offs which varied from 451mm-546mm) every alternate year.
Narendra Attarde, technical advisor at Print House, said: "Whether a customer's project requires a set schedule of distribution or a flexible on-demand system, we can streamline the entire inventory management process with our warehousing, custom packaging, order processing and final dispatch."
In order to complete this service, Print House has secured a logistics tie-up with local postal and courier agencies. Mailing can also be executed in-house through its franking machines, ensuring total confidentiality of dispatches.
Print House India looks to packaging to increase turnover
Print House India is hoping to expand further into the packaging market with the purchase of a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 with coating systems and the construction of an 18,500sqm unit at its Mumbai base.
