Islington, London-based Print Evolved acquired 100% of Colourgraphic Arts’ issued share capital on 12 September. The Bordon, Hampshire-based company will retain its brand identity and will be run alongside Mayfield Press (Oxford), which Print Evolved acquired in 2021. The key management team will stay the same.
Colourgraphic Arts offers litho and digital printing, graphic design, mailing fulfilment, book binding, and a raft of specialist finishing options.
Print Evolved managing director Spencer Slee told Printweek he was introduced to family-run Colourgraphic Arts by Steve Phillips, director at consultancy firm The Business Board, and that the company’s Hampshire location was a key reason for the purchase.
Slee commented: “This is a perfect addition to our group which has taken a long time to find. The location extends our geographical footprint and together the additional scale and expertise will bring significant benefits to both companies and customers alike.
“Over the coming months we intend to migrate Colourgraphic Arts onto our PrintIQ workflow and management systems to provide seamless access to extended production capabilities. We will also be refreshing and extending the onsite digital capacity to support our growth plans.”
Colourgraphic Arts managing director Vince Scardarella added: “We had significant interest in the company, and I am delighted to be handing over the reins to a company that can offer the best future to all our stakeholders.
“Everything that is important to me and the way I have run Colourgraphic Arts is embodied in Print Evolved and I am excited to be part of a larger team that can provide our customers considerably more.”
Print Evolved has 85 staff and trades as Print Evolved, VR Print – the Tonbridge-based firm acquired last year, WowBooks, City Printing, and Cardsmadeasy. Mayfield Press (Oxford), meanwhile, employs a further 80 staff and trades as Mayfield Press, Gpex, and 9impressions.
Following its latest acquisition, the combined turnover for the now 165-strong group will be £20m.
Print Evolved was publicly known as Ivor Solution until it was rebranded in 2016. Founder Ivor Jacobs retired this summer.
